For the second year in a row, Scientific Games was the stand-out lottery supplier after another phenomenally successful year.
The supplier is also pushing lotteries forward. While US lotteries have been slow to embrace the online channel, they are moving steadfastly into the mobile sector, with Scientific Games now providing one in four lotteries with some form of mobile application.
Scientific Games continues to lead innovation across the interactive channel, operating more than 600 lottery websites, with players placing 1.1bn entries in second-chance games and promotions.
In 2015, the company signed a five-year deal to take over from IGT as the iLottery platform provider to Canada’s Atlantic Lottery Corporation. The contract begins in mid-2017, and includes an option to extend the deal for a further 15 years.
In the retail marketplace, it successfully launched Monopoly Millionaires’ Club, a multi-state lottery scratch ticket linked in with a nationally-syndicated TV game show, with a second season of the game show beginning last September. Having now integrated its recent acquisitions (Bally, WMS et al), it will be hard for rivals to take this award away from Scientific Games next year.
